Gibbs-Sprunk Residence Wins Masonry Award

The Gibbs-Sprunk residence (also known as the Gibbs House) project, managed by Senior Associate Becky Wong (pictured second from left), was awarded the 2023 First Place Award for Excellence in the Restoration, Renovation, and Expansion category by the Masonry Institute of Washington (MIW).

WJE performed terra cotta cladding assessments, inspection openings, and repair openings; developed a repair design that retained all historic terra cotta; and provided construction period support services.

MIW's Awards of Excellence celebrate Washington State's best masonry designs in brick, concrete masonry units, stone, tile, marble, and terrazzo and honor projects representing the finest standards in masonry design, innovation, structural performance, and overall masonry integration.
