Rebecca D. Wong

Experience

Rebecca Wong specializes in historic preservation and materials conservation, and is an Architectural Historian in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards. Ms. Wong has performed investigations, condition assessments, repair design, and construction observation services for a variety of facade systems including brick masonry cavity and mass walls; concrete, limestone, granite, and marble on both contemporary and historically significant buildings and structures.

Prior to joining WJE, Ms. Wong was a Project Manager with the federal government where she managed historic preservation projects at a National Historic Landmark. Ms. Wong is knowledgeable and experienced in the application of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation and National Park Service Technical Preservation Briefs. She communicated regularly with State Historic Preservation Offices, the NPS National Landmarks Program, and Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Ms. Wong also has expertise in the federal guiding principles for sustainable design requirements, including Executive Orders 31423 and 31514. Ms. Wong served as a Federal Acquisition Certification-Contracting Officer’s Representative (FAC-COR) for the government from 2005–2013.

  • Rigg-Buckley House - Centreville, VA: Development of HABS drawing and photography documentation in coordination with HSR work on log home

  • Ash Grove - Vienna, VA: Development of HSR for 1790 federal style house and brick kitchen to document history, condition, and treatment recommendations
  • Janelia Manor - Ashburn, VA: Development of HSR to evaluate existing colonial revival house and garage structures and develop repair recommendations and documents

  • Mississippi State Capitol - Jackson, MS: Historic Finishes Analysis
  • Hoover Dam Museum Collection - Boulder City, NV: Cleaning and conservation of collection items in fair condition; creation of housing for all items needing stabilization while stored*
  • 1923 Original Survey Boats - Boulder City, NV: Cleaning and preparation of wooden boats for NPS conservation and documentation*
  • 1942 Topographic Colorado River Model - Boulder City, NV: Cleaning and preparation for contractor conservation of large, forty-one-foot-long topographic model

  • Hoover Dam Multiuse Green Building - Boulder City, NV: Management of demolition of existing metal structure, seismic rehabilitation on cantilevered foundation, and construction of LEED-Gold public building; presentation on project given at 2012 Preserve Nevada Symposium with NV SHPO*
