Limited Exterior Building and Parking Deck Repairs

The exterior of the building was experiencing severe distress in the structural concrete and the concrete cladding. The parking garage entry and exit also exhibited extensive concrete slab damage.

BACKGROUND

The building at 677 Ala Moana is a twelve-story structure that was constructed in multiple phases starting circa 1966 and completed circa 1971. The exterior walls are comprised of cast-in-place concrete with concrete masonry unit (CMU) infill walls, coated with paint at one elevation, and exposed aggregate precast panels and window walls at the remaining three elevations.

SOLUTION

WJE performed an investigation, prepared construction documents, and conducted construction administration services for the repairs to the degraded exterior precast concrete panels and vertical exposed aggregate fins as well as for the exterior precast panel sealant replacement, spall repair at parking garage decks and vehicular ramps, and traffic deck coating on the entry and exit ramps.
