Webinar Recording -- NYC's Facade Inspection Safety Program: Overview & Notable 2020 Amendments

View a recording of WJE's recent webinarNYC's Facade Inspection Safety Program: Overview & Notable 2020 Amendments.

Previously known as Local Law 11 (LL11), the Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) outlines inspection requirements for New York City buildings above six stories. Inspections and subsequent filings are required every five years. These rules were structured to provide detailed maintenance and repair strategies for building facades, limiting the potential of undiscovered facade conditions becoming unsafe and creating public safety hazards. Following the distribution of proposed FISP amendments in December 2019, the New York City Department of Buildings approved significant changes that took effect February 20, 2020.

In this webinar, WJE experts Michelle Dallhoff and Tom Kuczynski detail the necessary planning required to fulfill the requirements of the Facade Inspection Safety Program as well as notable amendments to access requirements, penalties, and the newly added cavity wall probe stipulations.

By the end of the presentation, you will be able to:

  • Describe the FISP inspection and filing requirements,
  • Plan and budget for the changes to access requirements,
  • Effectively schedule inspections and report filings to avoid civil penalties, and
  • Evaluate alternative access means, such as boom lifts and rope access.
