The culmination of a four-year effort, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has published a Guideline on the structural design, evaluation, and testing of facade access equipment. This Guideline describes common types of facade access equipment, reviews relevant OSHA requirements, defines design loads for this equipment, and explains how this equipment should be tested. Commentary is also provided to further explain the intent of the Guideline. Along with a number of structural engineering faculty and other engineering professionals, staff from across WJE served on the development committee: Associate Principal Gwenyth Searer
(Committee Chair), Principal Rich Dethlefs
(Committee Secretary), Principal Howard Hill
, and Associate Principal Jon Lewis
about the new Guideline and how to order it.
