WJE Professionals Honored at American Concrete Institute (ACI) Spring 2010 Convention

April 12, 2010
ACI recognized two key WJE professionals—John Hanson, WJE's former president and current board member, and Donald Meinheit, affiliated consultant with WJE's Chicago branch—at the organization's spring 2010 convention, which was held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers March 21-25, 2010.

Hanson received a fifty-year membership citation for his continuous membership and contributions to ACI. The Illinois chapter of ACI named Meinheit as the recipient of the 2010 Henry Crown Award. The chapter established the Henry Crown award in 1986 to recognize individuals that have made a significant contribution to the concrete industry. Meinheit is the current chair of ACI 355—Anchorage to Concrete and the former chair of ACI 533—Precast Panels. He will receive the award at the ACI Illinois Chapter Annual Dinner May 15, 2010.

A number of WJE professional staff members were also in attendance at the convention. Attendees learned about the latest advancements in concrete technology and discussed current concrete industry codes, specifications, and guidelines. Several WJE staff members led an assortment of technical sessions and presentations. Presentations given by WJE staff at the convention included "Post-tensioning Repairs in a Coastal Environment," by John Duntemann and Jon Sfura; "Fenway Park Restorations," by Paul Gaudette and Ann Harrer; "Dapped-end Double T-beam with Curved Bar Nodes," by Gary Klein; and "ACI-CRSI Adhesive Anchor Installation Certification Update" and "What About Adhesive Anchors?" by Don Meinheit.
