WJE Participates in 2018 National Safety Stand-Down

Monday, May 7th kicks off OSHA’s fifth annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. This event is dedicated to raising awareness of fall hazard prevention. Falls continue to be the leading cause of fatalities in the construction industry, accounting for 370 of the 991 construction fatalities recorded in 2016 (Bureau of Labor Statistics). WJE urges all of our clients and colleagues to participate in this event.

The Stand-Down takes place May 7–11, 2018. To participate, simply take some time during that week to refresh your memory and the memories of others about our industry’s fall hazards and effective fall prevention and protection measures. You can conduct a Safety Stand-Down by providing training, taking training yourself, or by simply performing any other fall protection safety activity such as conducting safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans, and discussing job-specific hazards. For additional information on the Stand-Down, see OSHA’s webpage dedicated to the event.
