Dallas Builds on One Good Thing
October 27, 2013
What began as one day of service for the 2006 WJE Conference One Good Thing charitable initiative is now an annual event for the Dallas office. On Saturday, October 26, ten Dallas staff members and four spouses participated in a unique Habitat for Humanity work day. Coordinated by the Texas Section of ASCE to commemorate the founding of the Dallas Section in 1913, the WJE crew installed building sheathing, exterior insulation board, flashings, and siding on one of the first green homes undertaken by Habitat. Seeking LEED Gold certification, the home features spray foam insulation, low VOC paint, and eco-friendly materials. Additionally, the house will be outfitted with solar panels donated by a local energy company.
