Experience

Mike Coryell joined WJE in June 2022 with nearly two decades of experience in geotechnical engineering. His work includes the development and execution of field monitoring programs, design and review of the geotechnical elements of construction, and complex analyses involving numerical modeling and soil/structure interaction for tunnels, retaining structures, levees and impoundments, and foundations.

Mr. Coryell has completed projects involving shallow and deep building foundations, tunnels and trenchless technologies, dams and levees, retaining walls, and seismic design. He has conducted technical reviews of instrumentation plans, design drawings, geotechnical reports and calculation packages, and developed extensive knowledge of many geotechnical software packages, including FLAC3D, Shoring Suite, GeoStudio, AllPile, DeepSoil, LiquefyPro, and SHAKE.

Additionally, Mr. Coryell’s career includes tenure as an intercontinental ballistic missile maintenance officer for the United States Air Force.
