Daniel Franco

Associate III

Daniel Franco assists with numerical modeling and computations related to slope stability and earth retention systems. In addition, Mr. Franco performs various geotechnical site investigations and has experience with bridge inspections and field instrumentation monitoring of tailings impoundment facilities. Much of his work has been in assisting senior engineers on various projects.

Slope Stability and Retention System

  • Residential Landslide - Salida, CO area: Slope stability analysis of landslide affecting residential home downstream of moving soil mass
  • Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Highway 280 - Fort Worth, TX: Design of shoring system composed of solder piles and wood lagging
  • Garage Retention Wall - Chicago, IL: Design of restabilization of existing retention wall using soil screw nails

Field Instrumentation

  • Endeavour, Great Panther, and Capstone Gold Tailings Impoundment Facilities - Mexico: Installation, monitoring, and evaluation of tailings impoundment instrumentation including standpipe and vibrating wire piezometers, survey monuments, inclinometers*
  • Solar Panels - Roswell, NM area: Installation and testing of stress and strain of test H-piles to evaluate performance of soil-structure behavior*

Geotechnical Site Investigations

  • Endeavour, Great Panther, and Capstone Gold Tailings Impoundment Facilities - Mexico: Cone penetration testing to evaluate tailings shear strength for slope stability modeling*
  • Fracking ponds - Permian Basin (southwest NM and west TX): Standard penetration testing and density testing for fracking water evaporation ponds*
  • Various Locations - Southern NM: Performed geotechnical investigations for commercial and residential development*

  • TxDOT Highway 280 - Fort Worth, TX: Design of drilled shafts for temporary jacking towers used to lift bridge girders

Bridges and Civil Infrastructure

  • 120 Bridge Inspections - NM: Inspection and report of bridges scattered throughout the state, working with New Mexico Department of Transportation*
