Experience

Sean O’Shea is an accomplished investigator of existing structures who focuses on building enclosure issues, including moisture ingress and interior\exterior air leakage stemming from material defects, deficient construction, and the environment. He has examined many types of structures and their various window, roof, and wall assemblies, including multifamily complexes, low-rise and high-rise commercial buildings, parking structures, pedestrian bridges, and residential structures.

Since joining WJE in 2003, Mr. O’Shea has assessed, investigated, and designed repairs on hundreds of projects across the U.S. Pacific Northwest and beyond. In doing so, he has participated in two decades of construction-related knowledge related to design, material performance, installation methods, and overall building behavior.

Mr. O’Shea has extensive experience with nondestructive evaluation tools, specifically with infrared technology relating to building behavior and performance. He is a Level II certified thermographer and has utilized this testing on structures across the United States.

An experienced expert witness, Mr. O’Shea has provided litigation support in construction defect cases, testified in two jury trials, and participated in numerous depositions. Mr. O’Shea has excelled at project management with large corporate clients in the Portland area. These services have included facade and structural condition assessments, defect investigation, repair design, and construction period observations.
