Lessons Learned from Sandy and Katrina

February 27, 2013
WJE's Rich Walther, associate principal in Northbrook, and Steve Kelley, principal in Chicago, will present "Hurricane: Lessons Learned from Sandy and Katrina" at the Wisconsin ASCE Chapter 2013 Spring Technical Conference at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on March 14.

Mr. Walther and Mr. Kelley will compare and contrast the types of structural damage from Hurricane Katrina and Storm Sandy. The effects these storms had on local building stock will be highlighted through experiences gained from the inspection of hundreds of structures in the areas affected by these devastating storms. Several case studies will be presented to illustrate the lessons learned during the forensic assessment of structural and architectural damage. The general results of these assessments and the impact they have on insurance industry processes and claims will also be reviewed.
