Lee Lawrence and Matt Carlton Promoted
Mr. Lawrence joined WJE in 1999 and has served as the Austin unit manager since August 2001. His consulting activities have included investigating and designing repairs for deterioration, distress, or failure of structures and a wide variety of constructional materials. His assignments have involved both new and existing structures including industrial buildings, bridges, and other civil structures. Prior to joining WJE, Mr. Lawrence was with the Texas Department of Transportation, Materials and Test Division for over eleven years. While his new role of Director of Practice Development is a corporate position, Mr. Lawrence will continue to work out of the Austin office.
Mr. Carlton, who joined WJE in 1995, has assumed the unit manager role in Austin. He has served as the Associate Unit Manager since 2013.In his tenure at WJE, Mr. Carlton has served as the project manager for numerous large-scale projects involving construction and design defects, materials failures, structural deterioration, and collapses. His work has included evaluation and repair design for concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures and a variety of architectural systems. In the course of this work, Mr. Carlton has used nondestructive evaluation techniques as well as structural instrumentation and load testing to evaluate the effects of deterioration on concrete and masonry structures. Mr. Carlton has also diagnosed problems and consulted on numerous projects involving building enclosures, and has performed structural and enclosure assessments on several historically significant buildings in Texas.
