Gary Wentzel and Mark Churpek Promoted
Mr. Wentzel joined WJE in 1995 and has served as the Cleveland unit manager since 2001. His practice includes architectural and structural investigations involving a wide range of materials and systems. Mr. Wentzel has extensive experience with masonry systems at all phases of investigation, repair design, and construction, including the investigation and repair of distressed cladding and the remediation of water leakage through barrier and cavity wall claddings systems in historic and contemporary buildings. He leverages this breadth of experience to provide consulting services for the design of new building envelope systems and litigation support as an expert witness for construction-related claims. While his new role of Associate Director of Project Operations is a corporate position, Mr. Wentzel will continue to work out of the Cleveland office.
Mr. Churpek has been with WJE since 2005 and served as Associate Unit Manager of the Cleveland office for the last three years. He has performed numerous investigations of both historic and contemporary structures, including structural failures, fire damage, material failures and distressed building conditions for structural components, interior finishes, and facades. Mr. Churpek is experienced in the evaluation of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry in buildings, parking garages, and other structures. He also been involved with the design, evaluation, and certification of facade access and fall protection systems.
