Douglas Smith Promoted to Principal
Mr. Smith is a professional engineer with over twenty-five years of experience in the evaluation and repair of pavement systems, civil infrastructure, parking garages, and building facades. He has particular expertise in solving materials problems related to performance, durability, and compatibility with other materials or systems. In his ten years with WJE, Mr. Smith has worked frequently in our in-house laboratories and has developed a number of test programs to assess construction materials. He is also the manager of the Dallas office. Noteworthy projects include the investigation of cast stone exterior cladding at Texas Tech University; an investigation of pavement distress in Cottonwood Valley residential development in Irving, Texas; and repair design to address severe reinforcing steel corrosion at an electric generation plant in west Texas.
Prior to joining WJE, Mr. Smith served as a vice president with 3D/International (3D/I), a program and construction management firm. He was also a materials engineer with Law Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc., and worked at Southwestern Laboratories, Inc., a geotechnical and construction materials testing firm.
Mr. Smith holds a bachelor of science and master of science in civil engineering from the Texas A&M University.
