| Section 12-11-7.3 Inspection And Certification Of Cornices And Other
Projections Attached To Buildings:
All owners of buildings (5) stories or more in height upon which buildings there are any coping, eaves, bays or similar projections of masonry, terra cotta, iron, steel or other material subject to deterioration or corrosion, shall have all such projections thoroughly inspected and examined by competent workmen at their own expense at intervals not to exceed give (5) years and shall furnish the building official with a written report setting forth the true conditions thereof. The builing official shall be notified when such inspection is to be made and may have a representative present. When the conditions of such projections cannot be determined from an inspection of the exterior thereof, the building official or his assistant may require portions thereof to be removed for more thorough examination. Section 12-11-7.4 Corrections required: Should the results of such inspection reveal any maintenance deficiencies, such deficiencies shall be corrected by the owner. GUIDELINES FOR INSPECTION AND CERTIFICATION OF ROOF MOUNTED STRUCTURES AND EXTERIOR WALLS OF BUILDING FIVE (5) STORIES OR MORE IN HEIGHT Competent workmen engaged by the owner to inspect the exterior walls of buildings five (5) stories or more in height shall be: A. A contractor who shall document three (3) years experience in the construction or repair of exterior building walls. B. An established inspection service with a history of similar inspections.The inspection report submitted shall contain the following information: 2. The name and address of the owner, agent or person in charge, possession or control of the building. 3. Date of inspection. 4. The description, condition and recommendation for repair if appropriate, of all roof mounted structures. 5. The description of the buildings exterior wall materials and type of construction. 6. The methods used to examine the exterior building walls and the extent of construction. NOTE: Inspection shall be by swingstage or other elevating apparatus so as to afford an up close physical Examination. Any other method of inspection shall require prior approval from this department. 7. Documentation describing the general overall condition of the builds
exterior surfaces. A special effort shall be made to detect all of the
following:
b. wall separation or dislodgement, c. wall movement, d. rusting action of steel members.
9. An evaluation of the recent inspection, containing recommendation for repairs, if appropriate. 10. Present recommendation for future maintenance of building's exterior walls, if appropriate. 11. Name and address of inspector and/or employer. 12. Documentation for A or B above. |
