Jean Jang

Experience

Jean Jang has extensive experience with materials conservation and historic preservation. Her work includes building documentation, materials analyses, preservation recommendations, and construction observations. Ms. Jang has completed projects with various materials, including slate, sandstone, adobe, brick masonry, terra cotta, stucco, plaster, architectural metals, and wood.

While at the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Jang’s master’s thesis examined the performance of nanolime consolidant for historic lime plaster, and was presented at an APT conference and published in the Journal of the American Institute for Conservation. She has also coauthored “Going Grey: Mitigating the Weathering of Wood in the Architecture of Louis Kahn.”

Prior to joining WJE, Ms. Jang worked at the Architectural Conservation Laboratory of the University of Pennsylvania, where she managed a multiphased project involving the conservation of interior surface finishes at Mission San José de Tumacácori in Tumacácori National Historical Park in Arizona.
