"The level of responsibility given to me was great. I was able to work on historical restoration, new construction, and building inspections. This is the most hands-on internship I have ever had."

"WJE far exceeded my expectations. I was involved in a wide spectrum of projects ranging from waterproofing issues to historic preservation to curtain wall systems. I was briefed on the project, given the necessary documents, and sent into the field to do the work. I was treated like an entry-level engineer, not an intern."
Kirby Piatek

"WJE’s shared destiny immediately stood out to me and greatly influenced my decision to come aboard. I found this “we’re all in this together” feeling to be extremely unique and knew I wanted to a part of it. During my internship, I was able to contribute to such an incredibly wide range of projects. The hands-on opportunities that were presented to me were extremely valuable and far exceeded my expectations."

"The commitment of WJE’s staff to high quality work and professionalism is unrivaled. It goes beyond a smiling face and a firm handshake. WJE staff are continuously seeking to learn more while they work together to provide effective solutions to projects. I felt like I was a part of the WJE family from the moment I walked in the door. The environment is one in which I feel comfortable to learn and explore."
Danielle Campbell

"I wanted to intern for WJE to work with our industry’s best professionals, do lots of field work, work on a multitude of exciting historic preservation as well as sustainable projects, and above others, learn a LOT. WJE encourages all of the above. WJE has a plethora of resources—its best one being the people. My mentors and coworkers have made the most positive impact on my career, thus far."

Gain meaningful experience with the industry leader that sets the standard in our profession.

Although the majority of interns work during the summer, we have full and part-time paid positions available throughout the year at many of our locations. Qualified students work alongside WJE’s leading structural engineers, architects, and materials scientists to diagnose and resolve problems affecting buildings and other structures.

Come ready to roll up your sleeves. We will put you to work on a variety of assignments—in the field and in the office; from small get-your-feet-wet activities to sometimes large, high-profile projects. After seeing what WJE is all about, many interns have later applied for and flourished in full-time careers with us. Regardless of where you land, the WJE internship and co-op program has proven invaluable in helping talented, new grads hit the ground running.
