After you apply online, your resume is sent directly to our recruitment database. A member of our staffing team then carefully assesses your qualifications relative to the position requirements. If there appears to be a good match, a Human Resources team member will contact you to schedule a phone interview.
After the initial phone interview, if it appears that your interests and qualifications are a good match, a Human Resources team member will schedule interviews with staff members who are with the department where the opening exists. The next interview may be a phone interview with the unit manager followed by face-to-face interviews with the staff and manager of the unit. Our goal is to make the interview process as convenient and as informative for you as possible. We will conduct reference checks, a drug screen, and a background check upon an offer of employment.

Internships

At WJE, you can expect to be challenged and supported by other staff members with real work in a very technical, fast-paced professional services environment. You will receive professional assignments tailored to your educational level and academic background. Many of our interns accompany staff into the field to assist in forensic investigations. They may even travel for out-of-town work assignments.
Although most interns work during the summer, we have full- and part-time paid positions available throughout the year at many of our locations.
Yes. The purpose of the intern program is to engage potential full-time employees in a meaningful work experience that allows both the intern and WJE an opportunity to evaluate mutual "fit" for a potential full-time offer at the end of the internship.
We will visit selected campuses throughout the year to meet with and introduce interested students to our outstanding company and the world of forensic engineering and architecture. If you’re interested in WJE but don’t see your university listed on our campus recruitment calendar, we encourage you to review the Job Opportunities section of our website. There, you can find current information about open internship and full-time positions.

See the Campus Recruiting schedule to see if WJE will be visiting your campus soon.

All professional and technical employees are encouraged to participate in our Technical Resource Groups (TRG), which provide a forum for interaction, collaboration, and sharing of technical knowledge. Absolutely not! Entry-level engineers and architects at WJE receive a breadth of analytical and design experience, intensive exposure to the various building codes, and many opportunities to review the designs generated by professionals working for other firms.

The percentage of WJE employees who pass their PE, SE, and RA tests on their initial attempt is far above the national average. This is, in part, because WJE hires the “best and the brightest.” It is also because of the mentoring that we provide to our new hires, to help them develop a feel for how structural and architectural systems actually perform in service. WJE professionals view the building codes as more than just a “cookbook” for designers. We strive to understand the rationale behind the various provisions included in the codes and, in doing so, develop a better understanding of how to properly interpret and apply the building codes. This experience is invaluable as our younger staff members pursue professional licensing.

Experienced Positions

We trust our people to act in accordance with five core values: Consummate Professionalism, Exceptional Service, Technical Excellence, Shared Destiny, and Fiscal Responsibility. These values are integrated into the way we manage projects, run the organization, and reward ourselves. The enthusiasm that people bring to their work is inspiring. Senior personnel are considered experts in their fields as demonstrated by the types of projects they attract, the committees they chair, and the papers they publish. Most experienced hires also find our culture of trust and personal responsibility very refreshing.
We look for seasoned professionals who have a passion for their work and can complement our existing capabilities or bring targeted new areas of expertise. To be successful, our experienced professionals must be committed to our values, have outstanding character, be enthusiastic about their work, and possess the depth of expertise expected of a senior member of our team.
Our company has markedly less turnover than other organizations in our industry and the turnover rate within the senior ranks of our firm is extremely low. The long-term stability and strength of WJE are testimonies to our supportive yet challenging work environment. We tackle interesting projects with the tools, resources, and collective expertise needed to deliver better solutions for the built world.
