A multidisciplinary team of engineers, materials scientists, and technicians operates the Janney Technical Center (JTC), providing reliable answers to questions about architectural systems, structural components, and construction materials. The center encompasses more than 25,000 square feet and is one of the nation’s largest construction-based testing laboratories. It can accommodate virtually any construction-related testing or research project, from the performance evaluation of a new curtain wall or the fatigue and fracture testing of reinforcing bars to accelerated weathering tests or specialized physical and chemical testing of materials. The JTC’s capabilities range from scanning electron microscopy to 500,000-pound load testing capacity to full-scale specimen testing using our 6,000-square-foot strong floor. The JTC also maintains state-of-the-art equipment for field evaluations, for use when we need to diagnose the problem at its source.

To evaluate challenging structures and components, our team goes beyond the routine to develop specialized testing procedures, data collection systems, and equipment. This innovative and unique testing and research has often led to the development of standardized testing methods for construction materials that are commonly used today.
